SNAKE LADY CARRIES THE MAIL ? ?
?
This painting is based on a lithograph that I created back in
the early eighties. But it was the springboard for what you see in this oil. This story is the age old chase of man and woman of the 1920-1930 period, where few women engaged in such manly adventures
as flying a huge airplane through the sky to bring the mail to distant ports of call. One observes high
heeled shoes being carried by the tantalizing Snake Lady, who lives at a time where everyone smoked.
and so did she. and we all enjoyed it. Now we know better, but the painting takes us to a different time,
and our imaginations can match up with the streaking fun of this painting. Cute babes of this genre are
few and far between. But this babe is a no nonsense, rough and tough wise cracker, who can hold her
own with any pilot guy that comes along. In fact, she can probably wrap them around her finger and whistle Dixie. The mail must get through, and she is more than willing to give it her all. Props up, start
your engines.
